SACRAMENTO, CA – The Greater Sacramento New Car Dealers Association- through their Accelerate Hope campaign - has announced a pledge of $1,000,000 over ten years to pediatric research at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Northern California, located in Sacramento. This endowment will be used to establish the Fund for Innovation, designed to accelerate hope for injured and sick children throughout the region who receive treatment at no charge. The Greater Sacramento New Car Dealers board of directors will present the hospital with the first installment towards a $1,000,000 pledge at a reception and press conference taking place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 12, in the Shriners Hospital auditorium.
“This is the first association donation of its kind for Shriners Hospitals for Children,” stated Development Director Alan Anderson. “We are tremendously grateful to the Greater Sacramento New Car Dealers Association for their confidence in us and their commitment both to the children we treat and our shared communities. Their gift is ground-breaking in its magnitude and we hope it inspires other associations, car dealer or other, to follow suit.”
The funding will allow the Shriners Institute for Pediatric Regenerative Medicine to continue their commitment to the eventual prevention of congenital conditions, such as Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida or Club Feet, and to the eventual elimination of complications associated with traumatic injuries, such as acute burns and spinal cord injuries.
John Driebe, president of the Greater Sacramento New Car Dealers Association, says he is incredibly proud for his membership to support such a worthwhile cause. “I hope we become trend-setters across the nation for all associations to support their communities through long-term endowments,” said Driebe. He continued “Shriners has so many wonderful programs that we had a hard time deciding on which endowment to fund. We decided on pediatric research which will not only benefit the children but could have broader-range implications for adults as well.”
